Gold Price Climbs to New Record Highs Above $3200

Gold Price Climbs to New Record Highs Above $3200

A little bit about the current state of things around here …

When we started this business 2 short years ago in March of 2023, Gold was $1900 / Troy ounce and already on an upward trajectory. Everyone in the business and collecting community seemed to be chattering about it.  We wondered, of course, how this would affect the consumer market. But we also didn’t wonder all that much. We loved what we stumbled on with the gold jewelry scrap piles and nothing was stopping our plan to curate & show you the best & for ourselves, to start our own budding collections. Since then, the price of gold has been going up up up. The industry gasped every time new milestones were reached. $2000, $2200, $2500, etc and now in March of 2025 a new all time high of $3100. And as I get ready to post this in April an even newer record high of $3200. We have been experiencing a non-stop incline in this highly desirable, very collectible precious metal that exists in and can be made into very pretty shiny things we yearn for. Your desire and ours has not waned.

So what’s different about this current hike? Because it really does feel different. It kind of feels like the free world is falling apart for one. The added “bonus” to the price of gold is this tariff war which is also significantly impacting the jewelry industry.

So what does this mean for CNOJ gold? We launched our Replicant line, which was our best attempt at cloning vintage favorites that we couldn’t stand to see go to just one person. We wanted as many people who wanted one to enjoy them. In some cases, we added our own spin to the pieces but I digress. The line launched in 2024 when gold was fluctuating between 2000 and 2200 per Troy ounce. We are making an adjustment, in some cases a slight one, in others a touch more significant. Our priority is to keep it reasonable for you and for us to stay afloat. We always welcome you to ask the hard questions and also the easy ones. We are here for you.

The tariff hike, which is still in limbo, also promises to affect the modern line we carry in our shop. These are a few favorite chain styles and some pretty sweet connectors which primarily come from Italy. So any tariffs imposed on EU as well as the rising gold price will affect those products. How much? 20% is likely but still limbo-ing big time.

The Replicants, Modern Connectors & Chains will see a price increase on April 28th. We are not increasing prices on The Luckies yet since this collection is a recent launch.

We hope you understand. It’s not always a super easy thing to grasp, like what does the $3200  even mean? The answers are out there but it’s not intuitive. And we are trying to stay on top of it ourselves so we get that the big picture can be a bit of an overwhelm. We want to make sure you never feel pressured to buy jewelry. By us or any other brand. Jewelry is the thing that gets us excited in a very sad state of the world as it is. And in happier times too. Jewelry is never not exciting! But when there are a lot of serious unknowns, jewelry can also feel frivolous. It sometimes does. So remember that priority is food, bills, roof over your heads and your loved ones. And if frivolity, distraction, shiny pretty things is what we crave to feel a little less isolated and more like ourselves, just remember that this investment is more than just a shiny thing. Gold is an investment and you are making a serious one when you purchase it. It’s not something to oversee. And the beauty of it is its beauty. You’re not shoving a bar or some coins into a safe. Stack, wear, and let your investment bring you daily joy. It’s pretty huge that as collectors we get that perk.

Will gold see more jaw dropping spikes this year? Highly likely. As you add pieces to your collection, the investment you make will grow and the jewelry will stand the test of time as heirlooms and collectibles. Until then, always do you first and stay true to what you need the most. We are always here if you need us to shed more light on this.
