Meet The Founders!

Code Name Orange Juice is a vintage and modern fine jewelry line founded by New York City costume
designers, Hanna Shea and Maria Zamansky. Inspired by a love for solid gold, fine details, and the streets of New York, CNOJ curates quality pieces with effortless edge. Their collection spans from vintage & antique solid gold pieces rescued from the melt, sterling silver pieces recast from one-of-a-kind pieces, solid gold charms (often repurposed from antique brooches, buttons, cufflinks, and even discarded grillz), and modern solid gold chains. Every single piece receives the care it needs to be restored (or reinvented), sometimes affixing lost gemstones or engraving embellishments by hand. CNOJ clears a path for collectors to buy jewelry from the melt, not the mine.

The story of CNOJ begins with a day of digging for gold on 47th Street in Manhattan: Hanna and Maria had become familiar with gold buyers who had pieces ready to be melted down. They rummaged through bins to find solid gold treasures, and from there, CNOJ was born. Having been costume designers on many period film and television projects, Hanna and Maria often sourced period-accurate jewelry, made with higher standards than modern mass-produced jewelry. The quality and detail of those pieces became touchstones for CNOJ.

CNOJ is imbued with Hanna and Maria’s own taste for things that stray away from the norm. A punk tenor, an aversion to basicness (and plated jewelry), a stand against wasteful consumerism: this is the ethos of CNOJ. Shopping CNOJ is like thrifting with your one friend who knows exactly what would go with your favorite old t-shirt. It’s all in the details! In their twenty years styling A-listers, Hanna and Maria found that jewelry is often the final piece that telegraphs a character’s personality, attitude, or outlook. CNOJ’s collection aims to reflect that same superpower of jewelry; to evoke a sense of identity, play, and connection.

Since 2023, Hanna and Maria have fostered a community of collectors and solid gold aficionados on Instagram. They regularly host Instagram lives to sell new pieces and honestly, just hang out. They feel strongly that the CNOJ community, much like good jewelry, inspires a grounded sense of connection.
